Biography

Cristoforo Pasquale graduated with the highest honours from the “L. Perosi” Conservatory of Music in Campobasso, Italy, in percussion instruments under the tutelage of Maestro Vittorio Buonomo. He then continued his studies at the University of Music in Miami, Florida (USA) with Fred Wikstroom. He began his musical career at a very young age and in 1975 founded an innovative folk group entitled “Nuovo Canzoniere Molisano” which recorded two albums and met with great approval from both critics and the public.

Before graduating he performed, during the opera season, as a percussionist in the orchestra of the “Arena Sferisterio” in Macerata, Italy. He further won the audition to stage the performance of Roberto De Simone’s theatrical piece entitled “La figlia di Iorio” and participated in the tour which played in a number of major Italian cities. Once again under the direction of Roberto De Simone, he performed the “Stabat Mater” by Pergolesi for four saxophones and percussion instruments which was broadcast internationally by the Italian national television station (RAI).

From 1982 to 2011 he was solo timpanist and percussionist with the “Orchestra Sinfonica Abruzzese” (Symphony Orchestra of Abruzzo) and collaborated with the “Solisti Aquilani” ensemble. In 1985 he became one of the founding members of the percussion ensemble “NANIGA” performing numerous concerts throughout Italy and abroad exploring classical, contemporary and pop music repertoires. He further collaborated with staging theatrical performances and recording several albums.

In 1991 he was solo timpanist and percussionist for a popular musical entertainment programme for the Italian television station, “Canale 5”.

On numerous occasions, he has collaborated with the “Teatro San Carlo” in Naples, Italy, with the chamber orchestra of the Marche, Italy, for the staging of performances with Andrea Boccelli at the Lajatico theatre, with the “I Orchestra” for the production of various presentations in collaboration with the trumpeter, Fabrizio Bosso. In June 2004, he undertook an extensive tour in Japan with “Il Teatro Lirico Sperimentale di Spoleto” performing “Le Nozze di Figaro” which met with great success by both the public and critics. Composers like Antonio Buonomo e Casey Cangelosi have dedicated to him two of their compositions for Timpani. Since 1985, he has held a teaching position at the “L. Perosi” Conservatory of Music in Campobasso, Italy for percussion instruments.
